I am interested to learn C++ visual programming (qt on linux Slackware 9.1) and also java. Could you give me some links to download some manuals or tutorials?
Do you already know C++? As far as Qt goes, it use it effectively you really need to know your basic C++ concepts first. I think there are some Qt tutorials at www.trolltech.com. However, it is probably easier to just go to the book store or the library and get something.
I agree with jtshaw, you cant use Qt without a firm grasp of C++.
I recommend "Practical C++" by Que for learning C++, I really
liked this book because it is very indepth as well as cheap. I bought
it from barnes and noble for about $25, although it lists for $29.99.
As far as Qt goes, trolltech has their own documentation of the Qt classes
on their site, but as far as their tutorial - - it kinda blows. I recommend
"Programming with Qt" from O' Reilly Press. I have no idea how much that
costs. But hey, you dont have to buy these books, you might be able to find
them in your county/school library.
In that case just grab a book, I have never round a very satisfactory on-line guide to Qt. It works quite a bit different from other graphical tool kits. I have used many different API's myself and quite frankly I really think Qt works better, but it is a matter of opinion of course.
I bought the O'Reilly book because I happen to stop into my local Barnes and Nobles for a cup of coffee and saw it sitting on the shelf. It was the only book on Qt they had, and on a brief flip through it seamed like a decent place to start. There might be others that are better you can order on-line, but there is nothing like the instant gratification of an in-store purchase.
