[C/C++] Good ioctl() tutorial?

Hi everybody!! I'm trying to learn to query device drivers (specifically wireless), and I've seen that the way to do this is through ioctl() calls and feeding this info to an iwreq struct (at least, that's what I've gathered). I'm a relative newbie to this stuff, but I'm serious about learning it, even if it's quite tough. I've read this, but there's no final code to view, so I'm having trouble filling in the blanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!!!

I think the best thing to do would be to learn how driver modules work at the kernel level so you have a good understanding of what happens when you call an ioctl. That will also allow you to go to the source code for the module to find undocumented ioctls and to see what they actually do. I haven't looked into those things for a while, though, so I don't know of a tutorial.

Thanks! That's probably a good starting point. I'll look into it.

Any more ideas from anyone about anything which may help will still be greatly appreciated, though!
