Hi, i'm just asking, how do I install UnixWare 7.1.1 on virtualbox? It seems that when I first installed it, X doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

No ideas, because we don't have any details to work with. You don't say what version of Virtualbox you've installed, or if ANYTHING about UnixWare is working after the installation. However (and this probably won't be the answer you like)...UnixWare is a VERY commercial distro. Unless you are paying for it, you should NOT use it at all. The lawsuits from SCO were many, and some still linger...if you're paying for it, give their support a call. If you're NOT paying for it, unload it and don't touch it.

All that aside...7.1.1 is an old version of SCO, and there appear to be some issues with it. There may be some help, though:

I am using VBox 4.3.12 and already installed and yes it does work but when I type "startx" at the "$" prompt it just gives me a input/output error sort of thing.

We're STILL going to need actual details..."error sort of thing" doesn't tell us anything we can work with.

And again, SCO 7.1.1 is old..the latest (?) is 7.1.4 at least...and you ABSOLUTELY MUST pay for SCO Unixware, and as such, you get support with it. You should be able to call them for assistance.

I think it is just an xorg setting issue. Not sure what they have in that distro. Maybe something like looking at a /var file for errors might be in that last message.

There are couple of commands to configure x to your (in this case the virtual video card) video card. I forget what they are Xconfig or others maybe. If this is very old x you may have know some nuts and bolts of the virtual video card or use some alternate video card if available that has documentation. I assume this card is a cirrus maybe. Anyway look at log file and might have to run config app for x.
