HP-UX ld: Mismatched ABI (not an ELF file)

Hi All,

Machine: HP-UX 11.00

-L/depot/jpg/lib -ljpg

when i got this below error. i just checked with /depot/jpg/lib directory i am able to see libjpg.a, it is a archieve file but ld is giving not an ELF file, as per my understanding ld -lxm means it may be libxm.a or libxm.so

Linker Fatal Error:
ld: Mismatched ABI (not an ELF file) for -ljpg

can anyone help me to solve this issue?

Thanks & Regards
Dayalan
