hi all
i had stuff up and needed to reinstall from my live cd, this went ok until I tried to reinstall Geda, I keep getting dependancy problems and the software wont load, im using synaptic packet manager and the error says to make sure all the repositories are loaded, how do i find out where all the repositories live? I tried to reload all the updated software useing synaptic but that broke my x-windows , it couldnt load xorg and gave me a error saying i had to remove all files from usr/X11R6/bin, it left me with just a terminal login .
Any help greatly appreciated,
thanks
Thanks simon

< export DEBIAN_FRONTEND; apt-get install --yes -s 'kmail' ;echo RESULT=$?

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kmail: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.2-1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkcal2b (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkdepim1a (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkleopatra1 (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkmime2 (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkpimidentities1 (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libksieve0 (>= 4:3.5.2) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libqt3-mt (>= 3:3.3.6) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libxinerama1 but it is not going to be installed

You have multiple failed dependancies there.
Did you update first?
Check to see what version of each of those libraries is available in your repositories. If the required versions are not available, then you may just have to wait until they are.
Thanks Simon
the problem only started after i re installed from my cd . I tried running apt-get from a command line login and i think i got a little further. The problem now is ive reached my monthly download limit! Oh well I will have to wait. During install I got a message that "some people have reported that their x-server would not work after installing " and was told to re install xorg? I think. Will try again when i can download again. Thanks again will keep you posted
Hi Simon
yes its simply Mempis 3.3 the message came up in the terminal window as it was applying the changes, I've ordered a new cd with the latest release maybe this will fix the prob. when i install it. I must say i realy like Mempis I don't know much about Linux Ive only been useing it for about 12 months and the only problems Ive had have been created by myself a little knowledge in the wrong hands Thats me maybe i should buy a book and study a bit before i play and break things again
thank again for you help
