In XMMS change the output plugin
Ctrl+P > change the output plugin to Arts alsa or esound
you may have to install them , just search rpmdrake for
xmms (install everything.
since you use KDE
i recommend changing Media Players
Amarok is very good layout similar to itunes.
Sounds Scary but please try it.
