Wireless not conecting in Mandriva 2009

Hy
Having the folowing issue: distro: Mandiva 2009 x86-64, Intel wifi card Thomson gateway, those 2 dont want to connect. Actually they did connect but a couple of days ago they stoped and I cant find the reason for it.
The iwconfig gives the folowing output:
IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"pilatus"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:1F:9F2:E8:45
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thrff Fragment thr=2352 B
Encryption keyff
Power Managementff
Link Quality=100/100 Signal level:-40 dBm Noise level=-97 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

The strange thing is that I have WPA encryption enabled in the MCC with the right key... and from the same laptop I can connect with XP but not with Linux neighter with another linux laptop that has the same issue...
I try to enable the encryption from the command line that gives no errors but after I have the same output from iwconfig encryption off...
[root@pilatus pilatus]# iwconfig wlan0 enc A119010B757
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

I see that you have had no response. I am no Network guru, but I set up my Wireless card here in MCC and it has worked well ever since. When I first purchased the card, it was not natively supported (and I could not get it to work using ndiswrapper). With the release of Mandriva 2009.0, the card is now supported and runs with a native Linux driver. As a side note, I had to use a wired connection to install any required software packages and set up the wireless device in MCC's GUI app.

My card worked fine from the first try (set up with MCC supported natively) but after it happend something and I don't know what... actually I set up my modem with the Linux and connecting to it with the wireless.... but now my card just doas'nt want to use encryption... anyway I tryed also to connect to the modem without encryption but still not working the funny part is that I can connect to another network (public free) with it and I also can connect to my modem with XP from the same laptop I'm confused...

Try removing, then setting up the card in MCC. Perhaps something became disabled or corrupted . . .

In Windows when I can not get a customer's Network connection to work, I have the customer "rip and re-install" the drivers. This usually sets things right. As I said in my previous post, I am no Linux Networking guru (I do not fully understand the behind - the - scenes processes), but it can do no harm to use MCC's "Remove a connection" utility, then it's "Set up a Network interface (LAN, ISDN, ADSL, . . ." utility. The worst that can happen is that nothing changes.

Did you install any new software (or hardware) or any software updates (essentially, did you make any changes to your system) immediately before you began to experience the connection issue (or perhaps in the previous session)?

Open MCC and go to the System section then view your system logs. Pwehaps there will be some indication there . . .

I have a new suggestion:

Is it possible that your wireless card is attempting to connect to the wrong Network? Open MCC. Navigate to Network & Internet, then open the Network Center icon. Expand your WIreless (WIFI) element (click the right arrow at the left). Check that your gateway is highlighted (selected) with the Network icon (like the one in your system tray) at the left of the SSID. If not, select your correct SSID, and click the connect button.

It is good to hear that you got it sorted. I have had times when I had to set up a static IP here on my home Network too, but not in a long time. If you do not care about using a static IP (locally), then let it be. If you want to use DHCP, Mandriva includes several DHCP clients from which you can choose.
