USB storage - detected on USB1 port, but not USB2 (Mandrake 10 Official)

Confused. Running Mandrake 10 Official - have 2 USB1.1 ports (built onto Intel motherboard), and 5 USB2 ports (on an add-in PCI card, using the NEC chipset).

Just bought a USB storage device (40Gb external HD) - plug it in to one of the USB1.1 ports & it's picked up fine as /dev/sda1, but plug it in to the USB2 card & nothing happens, until I modprobe usb-ohci which will then pick up the device.

Any suggestions on what could be done to make the device appear automatically on the USB2 port?

Thanks in advance...

maehara; take a look at bios setup to see if both usb,s are enabled? if not choose to enable them that may help os
in detecting them .
