Upgradin Alsa on drake 9.1

Hi, i'm currently having sound problem with the on-board sound card on my new computer. It's a via vt-8233.

When playing sound, it choppy, it sound low quality (but the sound file, a mp3 play well on the various other computer i have access).

Before doing any more "work" to fix the prob. i whant to upgrade my alsa version to the latest. If i'm right the alsa version is 0.9.0 ... I can't find any rpm package for mandrake that is better that what i have. (i may not have found then yet if they exist)

If no rpm exist, what should i do before trying to compile and install the latest version. Should i uninstall all the alsa rpm already installed ? (libasla2, libalsa-data,alsa-util... anything i find with kpackage that have "alsa" in it)
without depency check and cross my finger that it work ?

I'm not realy an expert, so if someone can help me ;-)
