Updating Mandrake 9.2 by shell. How ?

I need to update a fresh 9,2 install bye console, because i cannot enter X without installing ati Driver. But if i install ati driver then i cannot update mdk 9.2 by updrake becasue it says me that the news xfre864.3.2 pkgs conflict with ati driver. So i wanna update by console and AT THE END install ( force option ) the ati driver.

I'm looking for a command that do the same work/update that updrake does.
I went to mandrake site and get the ftp url with update...but i checked...the file in RPM dir seems to few...when i installed by updrake i got about 300 mb of stuff.
Also, it seems that urpmi.addmedia seems the way to do this install but i dunno what options i must insert ( name of font....what'sthe cz files ? i know only the ftp path ).

Go to Easy URPMI and follow the directions.

A quick Search of these boards would have shown you that this is a very common question.

Try urpmi.removemedia (to clear the source list) and then add the lines from Easy Urpmi one at a time to see which one gives the problem.

Is what i made.

i tried urpmi.addmedia main
ftp://ftp.edisontel.com/pub/Mandrak...6/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz

but i got error. It says me he cannot upgrade main..or hdlist, don't
remember.
Then i typed : urpmi.removemedia -a
and again the urpmi.addmedia main
ftp://ftp.edisontel.com/pub/Mandrak...6/Mandrake/RPMS with ../base/hdlist.cz

but nothing, i got that error again.

You need to try a different mirror. Its the mirror that has the problem. I've run into this myself. I do daily update On all 4 of m systems.

ok, resolved. Courtrb you was right, maybe it was a problem connectinf to ftp. I simply relaunched for the XXth time the command and all worked ok.
However, just 1 hour ago, a guy says me that there was a way to enter X without installing ati driver...sigh...sniff....i had simply to go to textual MCC, then dysplay manager and then select VESA driver...grrrr....what a waste of time.
However a big thanks to all of you...and, if u permit me, also a little thx to my winXp that make me capable of surfing the web looking for help about linux
