unmounting pcmcia cards


Hi,
I have a linksys wireless card on mandrake 10.0.
should I write anything to unplug (umount) it? or I can eject it while working?

It would be advisable to stop using the card before unplugging it. If the card is designed to be hotplugged/unplugged then there shouldn't be trouble.

Note - you do not umount devices. You mount/umount file systems.

You can just eject it manually. Will not cause any problems.

I have learnt

Ok, there is nothing wrong if I eject it directly but I think It is better firstly power off it

in su mode
cardctl eject

then unplug it
