Three questions

Hey all,

I recently installed a wireless adapter on my system (dual book w/ xp) and as a result had to install ndiswrapper to make up for the lack of wireless drivers in linux. I've noticed that I haved to run modprobe and ifup commands each time i log in to ensure that the adapter and internet are working properly... how can I automate that?

When I compile (sim for example), it seems that libGL.la is not in the correct spot (maybe because of the nvidia drivers). How can I symbollically link to that file or what can I do to rectify that issue?

Finally~: If I'm consistantly updating my Mandrake 10.0 CE via rpmdrake, is there no use in upgrading to 10.1? Will me KDE and other core apps be updated to the most current versions?

Thanks, guys!!

Start with the third one.... Easiest... Really, there won't be too much of a difference.. there will be NO difference if you keep recompiling the kernel to the newer versions.. 10.1 uses 2.6.8.1-10 (at least Beta 2 does), and i think 10 uses 2.6.3.7... So the software might be newer, but some of the core stuff might not get updated (does rpmdrak update the kernel.. i didnt think it did...)

2.. i don't really know.. does the ln -s /what/you/want/to/link /what/you/want/to/link/it/to work?

1. I am ot really sure how ndiswrapper works... I use Madwifi....but here is how I automate it to modprobe and run on boot...

Open Konsole:

echo "
STARTMODE=hotplug
DEVICE=ath0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=yes
WIRELESS=yes
WIRELESS_MODE=Managed
WIRELESS_ESSID=(your ssid here)
#WIRELESS_ENC_KEY=(your wep key here)
WIRELESS_RATE=54M
WIRELESS_IWPRIV=mode 3
MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes
" > /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ath0

I don't really know if that helps at all... perhaps some of it will..... the device name might be different, but the rest of it should apply (unless of course I Am completely wrong, which could very well be)

Hope I helped!
