Question Shutdown Button In Gnome?

Over the last week I've been reacquainting myself with the Gnome Desktop after using mostly KDE for years. So far I'm liking it but there is one thing I can't figure out except in Fedora. How the heck do I add a 'Shutdown' button to menu panel???

Try this way:
- Right click on the top panel
- Choose Add to panel > Custom Application Launcher
- Click the Add button
- In the Create Launcher window that pops up type in:
- Name: shutdown
- Command: halt
- Press OK

Unless there is a ready "Exit" or "Shutdown" button in the list which should open when you right-click the panel and choose Add to panel, like johnny2 explained. If there is, use the ready button, and if there is not, create a custom command. I bet there is an exit button available.

Thanks guys. I changed display manager from kdm to gdm and now I have a shutdown button. That seems weird that it is necessary to do so in some distros but not others. I'm liking Gnome as I use it again after about 3 1/2 years. The shutdown button problem probably could be handled better though.
