Scroll in Mouse Stopped Working

Not too long ago, it was before I got linux. I bought a brand new Gyration Ultra Mouse and keyboard combo. It plugs into the USB port and is transfered from the wireless thing to the keyboard and mouse. When I installed Linux the mouse was working fine. Than about a week after. The scroll stopped working. Im pretty sure its just the setting its on. But What setting should I put it on in the Control Center. USB Genreic 3 button With Whell emmulation or what. Because before you could scrolll up and don without a problem. Now I can't scroll or paste in Konsloe but I can press down the scroll and move the mouse up and down and it will work farily good. But two things. What setting do I put in the Control center? And is there an ymore info you need to help me?

the file will actually be xorg.conf. it's located at /etc/X11/xorg.conf. it's a text config file pertaining to your video & assorted input device settings. open it with any text editor and look for the section that says "InputDevice" for mouse. post that part here, please.

Have you tried the USB generic 3 button with wheel emulation? The worst that will happen is your mouse will stop functioning. In that case:

ctrl+alt+F1
root
[password]
#drakconf

select mouse, and choose the mouse you were originally using.

ctrl+alt+F7

Your mouse will be working again on original settings.

Did you try what I suggested? I would like to know if that worked or not.

It could be a hardware issue as well. Did you say it was wireless? (The mouse and keyboard)

2 things........

MDK10.1 uses Xorg. try editing the /etx/X11/xorg.conf file, instead of the XF86 file, if you're not doing that. (xorg stmlinks to XF86Config).

i had a similar problem with a ps2 scroll wheel mouse. it would lose it's settings after reboot. what i did was edit the InputDevice section in xorg.conf. don't know if this would apply to a usb setup, but it might. try editing your "InputDevice section of xorg.conf to read like this.........

Quote:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Emulate3Buttons"
Option "Emulate3Timeout" "50"
Option "EmulateWheel"
Option "EmulateWheelButton" "2"
if it doesn't work, just simply change it back. might be worth a try, though.

You have to be root to manually edit the file.
