please help me troubleshoot my printer

I'm using madrake control center to configure my compaq all in one (C3-1000) printer, which I regret a hundred times of buying.

If you don't have time, don't read what's below. All I want to know at this time is how do I find my USB printer in the /dev/usb drive. I know my computer can detect is because when I ran the mandrake control center's HardDrake, It shows up as an unknown device. But rather conveniently, it left out the full path to that unknown device.

Please help,

----------------------------
Here's what I did if u have time to read:

1. I used the printerdrake to autodetect my printer. non detected.
2. I used printerdrake to manually add a printer. I tried all choices (USB1 USB2 USB3) and all failed to work.
3. I turned on the "expert" mode check and found out that the printerdrake is searching for the printer in /dev/usb/lp0, ./lp1 , and ./lp2. So I opened up a terminal and found that non of the files existed.
4. I opened up hardware detection and found an usb device that I suspect is my stupid priner:
Vendor: ‎(null)

Bus: ‎USB

Description: ‎

Module: ‎unknown

Media class: ‎

5. I unplugged the printer and ran the hardware detection program again, and this time the suspected device is gone.

Conclusion: the "unkown" device is my printer. But how do I get to it? It doesn't show up in the /dev/usb folder.

/dev/usblp0 ?
Open a terminal and use the command
dmesg
look for any mention of a printer.

ls | grep usb
gave usb/ containing my usb keyboard and usbmouse.

dmesg contains many lines that all deal with eth0.

I can't find my printer....anywhere. my control center can detect my printer as an unknown device, but just won't tell me the path to it.

any suggestions???
