nvidia driver install question

I've downloaded and installed the latest nvidia driver successfully. But I cant seem to launch automatically into X. I get a prompt and have to login and type startx. I downloaded the file, changed inittab to 3 and restarted at the prompt. Installed the driver, logged in, and changed inittab back to 5. The only other change I made was "nv" to "nvidia" in the xorgconf file. I'm not sure why it's not logging me in automatically as it should with default 5 in inittab. Any ideas? Otherwise everything seems ok.

Problem solved! Add nvidia to modprobe file.
