NIS or LDAP for a small school?

Hi,
I'm wondering what would be recommended, using NIS or LDAP. We're equipping a small elementary school (abot 200 students) with a computer classroom of 20 Mandrake Linux clients. We wish to provide access from home to the school network for remote login, SAMBA, NFS, FTP.
What would be easier, quicker, more secure: NIS or LDAP (or anything else).
Thanks,
Yitzhak

NIS is being slowly deprecated.. I'd go with LDAP.
