Hi all,

I am new to Mandrake, and found on install I need to use the linux mem=512M in order for the install to proceed from sticking at a blank screen with blinking keyboard lights. I have 1024M of ram recognized by Windows XP no problem. Intel motherboard with all updates, I am pretty certain no hardware problems.

Using linux mem=512M I can then install fine, looks great. Reboot, select the straight linux option in lilo and same thing, does nothing. I need to select the linux_nonfb menaing no frame buffer for it to work.

Anyone know the issue here? Not sure if memory or video card issue as I read something about video for this as well. Using ATI Radeon 8500.

So as long as I select nonfb I can get in, but I would like to resolve the issue that is stopping it from operating normally.

Any help from you gurus much appreciated.

Just a WAG:
The default kernel does not include large memory support.

Either switch to the enterprise kernel or recompile the kernel to include support.
