mounting problems

I need to mount my cdrom drive in the location /mnt/cdrom because for some reason it disapeared from the desktop and I can't access it anymore. I tried going into the mandrake control center but I can only get the dvdrom working and thats it. Is there some way I can just get rid of the mount points and do it over. This is a litle frustrating right now.

why didn't u remount the cd again ? fot the same mount points ?

Check the /etc/fstab file for the existance of the cdrom entry. If your drive died then kudzu would not of detected it and removed the entry plus the desktop shortcut.

Check to see of the device ID still exists i.e /dev/hdc ( or where ever it is connected assuming this is an IDE drive). Check the output of dmesg to see if the OS is detecting the drive.

Is this a dual boot system and does the drive work in windows?
