Mandriva One installation problems

I'm trying to install Mandriva One and am having some problems. When I insert the CD into the drive then reboot the computer a screen comes up that asks for a localhost login and password. I have no clue what to enter.

Installation hasn't asked me to create an admin account or password. I'm a beginner with Linux so any help would be appreciated.

Mandriva One is a live CD. Does the live mode work or you don't see the desktop at all. Or does the login screen come up after the installation?

The information you give is a bit patchy, There's lots of space to type more details in here, why don't you give it a try.

I think you've left out some of the details, Based on what you've said here I'd say your cd doesn't work or the download was broken, or the burn to cd failed.

Because there is a hole lot of stuff you're expecting us to take for granted.

I think you owe us a few more paragraphs, the more info you give the more ppl here can help.

Good luck, and please try again.

No installation screen starts. I see the penguin for a few seconds then the screen goes straight to the one I've described. Nothing else happens except for the login screen asking for localhost login and password. I have no idea what that is. I've read on other forums that I should type startx.

I think, the live cd has started. Does startx do anything?

There are standard login details for the live distro.

rtfm.

Once you get the desktop setup and displaying, the setup/install icon is there waiting for you.

(edit) I've just returned from running the live ONE, and I got no login prompt.

I think you have a failed install of one or a bad cd. or, Have you run the install before?

if so I don't know how to repair it other than the tools available at the cd boot menu, or to reformat or delete the partition and start again.

Sounds like you are having an issue with the video card and/or monitor as Mandriva-One normally boots straight into the kde desktop.
Don't know if you will have any success but you could try login as root and run the XFdrake utility.
This is one of those rare occasions where you don't need to know the root password.

localhost login: root
[root@localhost~]# XFdrake

You might also consider the PCLinux livecd which is also based on Mandriva.

MandrivaOne post installation

Hi. I also have the same problem after installing MandrivaOne LiveCD. After booting with the live cd and running Mandriva without a problem, I decided to intall. I experimente with other distributions and were always asked to create a user and asign an admin password and user password. This was not the case with MandrivaOne. After a successfull setup, I was then given the choice to install Lilo and I did and rebooted the PC.it did not boot to the GUI Manager, right to the prompt without an error message and asked to login. I don't know how to load into KDE, GUI. I have an Nvidia 16MG card.
