You don't have a manual or a handbook for your modem? Then checkout the manufacturers website or call their support hotline for username and password. Without logging in to your modem you can't configure your internet connection.
Ok, so try this: Open the mcc, go to -> 'network & internet' -> 'configure a network interface' and then go 'Ethernet' -> choose your ethernetcard -> the rest is preselected and should be ok (get ip-address and dns-server automatically).
After that, make sure that you choose eth0 and not ppp0 as your internet connection (available via right-click on the netapplet in the panel)
From all I can see, this should work.
Now it's getting really strange! If you have ever tried to set up a network connection under Mandriva 2008.0, it should appear in the folder /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ like e.g. ifcfg-eth0 or ifcfg-ppp0 or ifcfg-wlan0.
A lot of things. How can I copy from terminal window?
Depends on which terminal you use. E.g. within the Gnome-Terminal you mark the text you want to copy with your mouse, then right-click and choose copy from the menu. Instead using the right-click you could also use the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-C
