Mandriva 2006 Install Problem
Hi all,
This is my first ever post on any Linux forum, i'm new to it and having problems, i hope you guys can help.
I am trying to install Mandriva 2006, DVD i386, onto a spare pc at home. The HDD is a 120gb Seagate SATA on a Silicon Image Sil3112a pci card. The problem is that when the dvd initially boots up and searches for HDD's its finds the Silicon Image controller and the model number and proceeds to find the driver and install it, this never happens. After 5mins or so a message appears saying there is a problem, the problem of no storage is available as it doesn't recognise the controller card. This dvd installs fine on the same pc using an IDE HDD, but the IDE is only 6gb. How can i make this card work? I have tried the commands noapic, noauto etc... and pointed setup to the Sil driver, but no luck. Any ideas???
Thanks
Rob
