Mandrake 10 losing wireless settings

Hi

I have upgraded to MDK 10 on my thinkpad to solve the problems I was having with ALSA under MDK 9.2. My sound now works a-OK but my wireless network is very flaky.

My Netgear MA401 pcmcia card worked fine from install and then suddenly, after a reboot, the card has stopped working. I have never had a problem with this card under previous versions of Mandake.

I have tried to reboot, remove and replace the card etc.. but Mandrake does not see the card anymore.

Trying to do a manual install also fails to see the card and keeps returning back to the screen where one chooses the wavelan orinoco_cs driver.

Any suggestions of how I can get Mandrake to see the card again?

Thanks in advance
O

Have you tried fiddling with the ACPI options under boot in Drakconf? I just checked a box there and my network came back up no problem.

I'm experiencing the very same problem with my MA401 wifi card in a Toshiba laptop.
I had it working fine under MDK 9.0 (with extra drivers), 9.1 (stock) and 9.2 (stock) !!

In MDK 9.x I used to be able to plug the card in AFTER I boot and the laptop would pick up the card. In MDK 10, it appears as if PCMCIA (or cardmanager) is not even started if I don't have the wifi card plugged in at boot time.

Any suggestions?

Tried that but no luck. None of the boot options seem to have any effect on my wireless network.

Will re-run the install (upgrade option) and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for your help!

Angry wireless problems with mandrake 10.0

I had the same problem, once I upgraded to 10.0 I lost wireless networking. I have a linksys pci wireless card. After going through and using drake conf I can get it back up again but when I restart it fails and I have to go through drake conf every time after I've restarted. It looks like the module for my card hasn't loaded when the system trys to bring up the card. Its a pain but at least I can get it working, I'd like to know if anyone else has resolved this problem?
