mandrake 10 community install failure

hallo, I have changed my PC recently and I can't succed anymore in installing linux mandrake 10 community, which I already had in my old PC.

My system is:

Athlon XP 2800 barton
motherb. Gigabyte 7N400Pro2
Ati Radeon 9200SE
512 MB ram
SoundBlaster Live!

Does anyone know what's wrong?
I can still install my old SuSE 8.2 and I have installed new Debian/Mepis, but nothing to do with Mandrake! (and also nothing to do with Fedora Core 1).

you'd get more answers if you gave us more information about what exactly you mean by "install failure"...

looking at your setup though, i'm guessing that this might be the same problem i had... check this thread.

What I mean for install failure is that everything seems to go OK since when installing the packages: at this point, randomly, it starts saying:
'a problem occurred installing package ......' and asks if I want to quit installation or try going on. I tried continuing, but after a while, still randomly, another problem occurs whit another package..... unitl it says 'fatal error' and stops installation.
I tried with F1 boot: linux noapic nolapic, but everything was just the same...

I don't think it could be a problem with hard disks. I have two: maxtor 40 and 80 mb.

The strange thing is that an old SuSE release - 8.2 - works OK - and the kernel should be 2.4.......
Also Debian/Mepis works OK, the kernel should also be 2.4 - but this release is a little difficult to me......
