I have downloaded the 10.1 X86_64 cd's and checked the md5sum on them and all is well. However, when I try to install using gui or text, the installer just locks up. I get this error when installing in text:
PCI: Via IRQ fixup for 0000:00:10.1, from 11 to 9.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!
BTW, I have an AMD64 3400 with a gig of ram and a GeForce 5900 Ultra.
Do you have a running Mandrake system on the computer which you are trying to upgrade, or do you have ML on another computer. The reason I ask, is because if you create a rescue disk with the command 'rescue --iso' and burn the image to CD, there is a menu option that will perform diagnostics on your computer and suggest boot options which may help.
I could make a guess and say try the 'pci=noapci' option.
You could try booting up into the rescue mode, and running the program 'lspci'. It will print out lines like this:
0000:02:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corp. 82801BD PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller (rev 82)
You will be able to determine what device may be causing the problem.
I once had a similar situation where once I unplugged a usb hard drive, it proceded normally, but the situation hasn't repeated. Perhaps try a different usb port if that's possible. And/or plug in the mouse after booting up and run the 'mousedrake' program.
If it is some kind of pnp interupt problem, you could try turning off the 'pnp enabled os' option in the bios. This may be the worst named option because having it on, the bios performs PNP setup function instead of the OS, so the effect is the apposite of what is says. Anyway, turning it off linux will assign the interupt sharing itself. From your original message, that may be the problem.
You may need to provide the output of the 'lspci' or 'lsusb' commands and the 'lsmod' command as well. If it is a hardware problem, we willl need some idea on the hardware in your system, and what modules are loaded.
What I ended up doing is similer to what you did. I unpluged my mouse from the USB port, let it boot into the gui, then pluged it back in and it worked fine... Since building it, its worked great!!!
