Mandrake 10.1 Community Will Not Update!

For some reason I cannot get Mandrake 10.1 to update! When I run Update Software it lets me pick a mirror and stuff but it always gives me and error with my Update Media saying that I need to Remove it and Re-add it later or something. I have to upgrade Xorg to install ATI drivers, so any help on this issue would be helpful!

Well, I got prompted to insert install disk 2, then I got "Everything already installed" message.

I have even tried reinstalling mandrake and it still doesn't work....

Lemme, post the exact error message:

"It is impossible to retrieve the list of new packages from the media 'update_source'. Either this update media is misconfigured, and in this case you should use the Software Media Manager to remove it and re-add it in order to reconfigure it, either it is currently unreachable and you should retry later."

I just don't get it. It won't update during install either, even after I run DHCPCD to get my network running.....

It seems that you are trying tp update from your install cds. Go here: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ and follow the instructions for setting up the sources and try it again. It gives instructions for removing your current sources and adding new ones. It's very straightforward and easy to set up.

What do you mean repositories? I am not really a Linux n00b but have never messed with urpmi I usually just wait for updated versions however I really need to get these ATI drivers and 10.1 has 6.7.0 and I need at least 6.8.0 with Xorg.

And, btw, thanks for the help. This is really a great forum.

When you went to Easyurpmi, did you firstly follow the instructions to remove the existing sources? You should have done that and then add the new sources generated by the website.

Okay, I got URPMI --auto-select to work finally, however GURPMI doesn't work ,but I guess I'll live.

Also, I noticed that the main reason I was updating isn't even there. Is there an Xorg rpm set for mandrake that is at LEAST version 6.8.0? I need to get my video card working in Ut2k4 so I can stop dual booting.
