KDE 3.1 wont start at login, but only for one user

I am running mandrake 9.2 at home, I have 2 users set up on the machine, myself and my better half.
when she tries to login and start KDE 3.1 she gets the following error message:-
Could not start KDE.
No Write access to /home/bex/.ICEauthority

ICEWM starts alright but KDE apps, eg Kmail wont work, the interprocess settings are wrong or something.
Any help will be most appreciated.

hmm is bex your better half login name?

It sounds definately like a permissions problem... perhaps their directory was set up as root access or something...

become root... look at your home dir ls -l
and note the group and owner of files..
do the same with your better halfs home dir...and see if that is where the problem lies.
