I need help running win4lin - kernel problems.

Hey there,

I want to run win4lin, but I'm having problems with the different kernels.
The 2.6 kernel that came with the distro did not work, in fact, no normal 2.6 kernel works with my pc.
The reason I can't use it is that the mouse doesn't work...

Anyway, I did some research when I got MDK10.0 and found a patched kernel that addressed this problem.
So, my current kernel is : 2.6.3-4mdk_usb .

I installed the win4lin kernel: Kernel-Win4Lin3-NeTraverse1.0_2.6.8.1-03.i686.rpm, but I have the same problem as the other 2.6 kernels, the mouse doesn't work.

Is there any way to get win4lin running somehow?
Maybe someone who knows more about it can help me rectify it with normal 2.6 kernels...

Thanks for any help.

em, okayy, I downloaded a 2.6.3 kernel patch from the win4lin website, but when I try to patch in the mki-adapter file with this command: patch -p1 < mki-adapter26_1_3_11.patch >> patch.log 2>&1< it gave this error message:
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'.

Can I still go ahead with and config and compile it, or is this bad?

It sounds like you've made a mistake with all that output redirection stuff its trying to do, just try this instead:
Code:
patch -p1 < mki-adapter26_1_3_11.patch
As a tip I'd say it all sounds like a lot of trouble - if its possible I'd try upgrading to the latest release (2005LE which is 10.2) and avoid recompiling kernels and all that.

Just an update, I succesfully patched the kernel and now everything is up and running. I'm just completing the win4lin installation.
