Sorry, the localhost password, when and where do you see this ? When installling it is not necessary to specifiy the localhost, so if in the event you did proivide information use that to get past this...hope your reply can provide a bit more info

Sounds like you did not enter a root password and then after that you were supposed to create one user account such as admin with a password.

You probably have to reinstall, select upgrade, and then do the above.

When is asks you for the password, did you try leaving it blank and just pressing [ Enter ] ?

What you are describing sounds very odd. Please take a look at the following links and tell us where you are asked to enter the localhost password.

http://doc.mandrivalinux.com/Mandriv...tPassword.html

http://doc.mandrivalinux.com/Mandriv...d-addUser.html

http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_mandriva_2007

Please tell us if you see the screen in one of the above links.

Sorry to say that I cannot find anything regarding this problem.

Just to back up a bit, you never mentioned what kind of hardware you are installing on.

Also, what host name did you give to the system?

There is an option to add a password to the boot, again I am assuming that you did not as most people do not unless they are setting up an extremely secure system.

Peter
