Unhappy HP laserjet 6p stalls with large amount of data

I am running Mandrake 10.0 official with kernel 2.6.3-27mdk-i686-up-4GB and having a problem with my printer, HP Laserjet 6P with 24 MB memory. I am using CUPS printing system. If I try to print a lot of pages at once it stops at the middle of printing. For example if I try to print more than 50 pages it never finishes. I experienced this problem with Adobe Reader 7 and MS Word running through CrossoverOffice. I does not seem to be a printer hardware problem because if I connect this printer on a Windows machine it prints more than 300 pages without stalling. When it happens I have to kill all printer related process to get the printer works again.
Does anyone have an idea what program is causing this problem ?
