how to hack my own root password


Hi i've got linux installed but the os does not recognize my root password how could i do change it?


[edit] i'm running on mdk 10.0....

When you boot up your computer, you should see LILO, and a list of options to select. If you do, select "failsafe". For mandrake, that will boot up your computer into a console, with minimal support for devices - kinda like "Safe Mode" for windows. You will be root automatically, so simply type "passwd" and change the password. To reboot type "shutdown -r now".

Hello,

append init=/bin/bash to your boot option
then you'll be able to change your password
