Help on kernel module
Hello,
I'm a newbie on Linux. I've installed Mandriva 2006 PowerPack and I tried to install a new version of v4l/cx8800 modules.
I've deleted by mistake the original modules for cx8800 (installed by the setup of MDV). I've placed the new compiled ones hoping it will find them or raise an error at least.
So, now I've got one error:
FATAL: Module cx8800 not found.
I have 2 questions:
1. How to restore them to the original state (I mean where could I find them in the setup files/ or how to compile them from the setup or kernel files + how to configure the existing kernel or the OS to find them again)?
2. How could I replace cx8800 (for example) modules by new ones in a kernel (without recompiling the existing kernel or compiling a new kernel)?
PS: Before all this mess, I've been following the v4l procedure to compile the cx8800 .0.0.4 version and the make install did not installed them as I could see...
Thank you in advance!
Mike
