If you are using Mandrake it's better to get software from official Mandrake repositories. Mandrake has a good package managment tool called urpmi and you can find more information about how to configure and install packages using it from, zebulon.org.uk.

Howto install Mozilla on MDK 10.1

Had no problems with installing Mozilla following the instructions available at mozilla.org website
However, I had to manually add mozilla to the menu (KDE) using menudrake.

Mozilla version 1.7.2 (There is newer versions available)
KDE version 3.2.3
MDK 10.1 Download edition

Steps to install Mozilla (from the readme file)
To install Mozilla by downloading the tar.gz file:

1. Create a directory named "mozilla" (mkdir mozilla) and change to that directory (cd mozilla).

2. Click the link on the site you're downloading Mozilla from to download the non-installer (mozilla*.tar.gz) file into the mozilla directory.

3. Change to the mozilla directory (cd mozilla) and decompress the file with the following command:

tar zxvf moz*.tar.gz

This creates a "mozilla" directory under your mozilla directory.

4. Change to the mozilla directory (cd mozilla).

5. Run Mozilla with the following run script:

./mozilla
