HDE not responding

I just loaded Mandrake 9.2 on my desktop. And during bootup I get a message that "hde is not responding".

I looked online, and this seems to be something corresponding to a temporary drive for lilo bootloader? Does this sounds right?

I shouldn't have a drive that would need to be detected as hde, everything (HD, CD) has already been detected by this point.

Thoughts?

Thanks
David
