Having problems with urpmi.update

Hi!

Tried to update Mandrake 9.1 today, but urpmi seemed to freeze after 5 min, so I killed the process.

Now, whenever I try to update, I get the same message from all mirrors : something along the lines of we can't connect to this mirror because it might be temporarily down/or you may not run an appropriate version of Mandrake/do you want to try another mirror, etc ...

Everything worked before. Is anyone else experiencing these problems?

Thanks.

i'd do urpmi.removemedia -a and start clean, following the directions at http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon .

i just had a problem too. maybe not a problem but something I don't understand. I wanted to update libqt3, but urpmi told me that he has to remove something like 25 packages :

The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
arts-1.1.3-1tex (due to unsatisfied mdkkdm >= 9.1-26.1)
galaxy-kde-0.2-22.1mdk (due to missing libkdefx.so.4)
galaxy-kde-kwin-0.2-18mdk (due to missing kwin.so)
k3b-0.8.1-3mdk (due to missing libkio.so.4)
kdbg-1.2.7-1mdk (due to missing libkio.so.4)
kde-i18n-en_GB-3.1-1mdk (due to unsatisfied kdelibs >= 3.0.3)
kde-i18n-fr-3.1-1mdk (due to unsatisfied kdelibs >= 3.0.3)
kde-i18n-ja-3.1-1mdk (due to unsatisfied kdelibs >= 3.0.3)
kdeadmin-3.1-8mdk (due to missing libkutils.so.1)
kdeartwork-kde-classic-3.1-3mdk (due to unsatisfied kdebase >= 3.1)
kdebase-3.1.3-4tex (due to unsatisfied arts >= 1.1.2)
kdebase-nsplugins-3.1.3-4tex (due to unsatisfied kdebase == 3.1.3-4tex)
kdebase-servicemenu-1.0-6mdk (due to unsatisfied kdebase >= 3.1)
kdegames-3.1-11mdk (due to missing libkolf.so.0)
kdegames-devel-3.1-11mdk (due to unsatisfied kdegames == 3.1-11mdk)
kdegraphics-3.1-9.1mdk (due to missing mrmlsearch.so)
kdelibs-3.1.3-9.1tex (due to unsatisfied kdelibs-common == 3.1.3-9.1tex)
kdelibs-common-3.1.3-9.1tex (due to unsatisfied kdelibs == 3.1.3-9.1tex)
kdemultimedia-3.1-10mdk (due to missing arts)
kdenetwork-3.1-31mdk (due to missing libmimelib.so.1)
kdepim-3.1-17mdk (due to missing libksync.so.1)
kdesdk-3.1-9mdk (due to missing libkomparepart.so)
kdetoys-3.1-5mdk (due to missing libkutils.so.1)
kdeutils-3.1-9mdk (due to missing libksimcore.so.1)
krootwarning-9.1-5mdk (due to missing libkdeui.so.4)
krozat-9.1-2mdk (due to missing kdebase)
libqt3-3.1.2-9.1tex (due to unsatisfied libqt3-common == 3.1.2-9.1tex)
libqt3-common-3.1.2-9.1tex (due to unsatisfied libqt3 == 3.1.2-9.1tex)
mandrake-galaxy-9.1-21mdk (due to missing kdelibs)
mdkkdm-9.1-27mdk (due to missing libkio.so.4)
mdklaunchhelp-9.1-3mdk (due to missing kdebase)
quanta-3.1-19mdk (due to missing libkommanderwidgets.so.0)

why and is he going to install them after or he will update these ? and if i do this with X, it will probably crash.

Urpmi thinks that those depend on the older version of qt, and probably won't let you install any of them with the newer version.

Just leave libqt3 alone, i'd say

grrr ! vnc needs a better libqt3 to work properly when accessing a linux desktop from what i read on the net. I've tested it without and that doesn't work at all.

The web site is closed at the moment due to the patent protest.

However, all I had to do was remove the update_source item, and everything worked!!

Thanks anyway
