Getting ~/Mail from KMail 1.6.2 to work with kontact as found in MDK 10 community
Hi Guys!
My wife wanted to test-drive Mandrake, so I
backed-up her home directory
(tar cvzf home.tar.gz /home/<username>) and
she installed MDK. After she was done I untarred
the components we wanted to preserve into
her new home ( ~/Mail, ~/.gnupg, ~/.kde/config/kmail*)
and chown -R all things in home to the new user
(just in case) ... when starting KMail it comes
back telling us that KMail doesn't use Mail any
longer (even though the version in Slack was 1.6.2
and MDK came with 1.6.1) and did we want to
convert to the new location ~/.Mail ... we said
yes, and it started up, showing appropriate
numbers of mails in inbox and sent-mail. But when
clicking on either of them they were empty, and
next time around the numbers wouldn't show
anymore, either.
Any hints as to how to tell kontact's variant of
KMail how to recycle the original mail-box
greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tink
