Firefox 3.0.7 crashes in Yahoo mail

I have a very annoying problem. It started right after Billy Gates tried to take over Yahoo last summer, coincidence? When I am in Yahoo mail if I reply Firefox crashes about 90% of the time. Also when I compose maybe 40% of the time Firefox will crash. I have been working with someone at Yahoo trying to figure out whats wrong so far nothing has worked.I'm running Mandriva 2008 and Firefox 3.0.7. Everything thing else works great. Is anyone else having this issue? I also had to turn off Yahoo spam protection because a bunch of emails were not getting through.

Thanks

Do you have the Open Source Flash Support installed or are you using the proprietary Flash Player from Adobe? If you use the proprietary Flash Player from Adobe, check that none of the components for the Open Source flash player remain installed so as to avoid conflicts. You can check to see which plugins are installed in Add-ons window (Tools > Add-ons) or enter the following in the WEB address (Location) bar:

aboutlugins

Ernie,
If I remember right flash was already installed. I don't remember installing it. I looked under aboutlugins and went down to Adobe and no flash was listed.

It is probably reported something like this:
Quote:
Shockwave Flash

File name: npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
If the version number is less than 10, you have the Open Source flash player. it is possible that Yahoo requires features not supported in that version.

Another likely candidate to check is your Java installation. If tou use a version older than 1.6.x, it may not properly support yahoo mail (but the Yahoo support desk should have already checked all this). Have they been made aware that you are using Linux?

flash is 9.0 r48
Java 1.6.something

Last time I messed around with flash I could never get it to work. Firefox would not see it as a plugin.
Thanks though, that probably is the problem.

OK I found out how to get it to work. I installed Opera Browser and my mail works fine. So there is something wrong with Firefox.
