Firefox 1.5 cannot alter or save bookmarks and prefs
I just "installed" (unpacked) firefox 1.5 into /usr/local/, setup my shortcut to point to it and it launches with all my bookmarks (from my old 1.06 installation) in place.
But, if I try to manage bookmarks I get a small white box and nothing happens.
If I try edit preferences I get nothing. I little giration, but no windows or anthing.
The directories are owned by me with write perms. Should they be root or something else?
Other things of interest is that the window (title bar) has a black X in it, not the firefox icon (on the task bar too).
Here is the kicker, I installed thunderbird the same way and it seems to work just fine.
No idea. I propose that just in case, open konqueror as root, and then set for every directory firefox uses (including .firefox or .mozilla-firefox) that the owner is yourself. Maybe that will change things o_O
I would guess that you were root when you installed this (you'd have to be). That being said, all files are owned by root right now, you probably need to chmod the settings dir to your username
I went to rpm.pbone and found an RPM that worked. For me, the SoS one did not work, but the mcnl one did. i had one dependency to grab (which they link to directly so that is nice) and that was it.
