Fasttrak 378 ft3xx.o boot image help

I'm about ready to pull my hair out.... I'm trying to install Mandriva 2006 via ftp server. My laptop uses 2 60GB stripped on a Fasttrak 378 controller and my cdrom drive is busted at the moment (hence the ftp install). I'm able to use a network diskette image I got off the ftp site im trying to pull the distro from. I get all the way to partitioning and it can't find anything but 1.4mb sda hence no raid. I've read up on many articles and found out I need ft3xx.o file and the source put onto my boot image diskette. I grabbed the source from Promise's website and followed most of the instructions to a T. The problem is I'm trying to make a ft3xx.o file on a mandrake box thats not 2006 but 2005 actually, I'm not even sure thats the problem because /usr/src/linux where it says in the README.txt to issue a make dep (whatever this stands for) anyways I can't do step 2.. so I went to step 3 to do a 'make clean all' after editing my Makefile for MDK (mandrake) which I did. So i run the make and i get a large amount of directory/file not founds pointing to /usr/src/linux (i.e. that folder I don't have). So having C classes in highschool and college I went out and tried to edit the <include> location for scsi.h to point to where it is located on my pc. The sd.h i don't even have on my mandrake 2005 to change the include for that one..... ANYWAYS long story short I was hoping maybe someone on here that already has ft3xx.o compiled for mandriva 2006 could potentially get in contact with me to send it and the source files so I could get my laptop back up and running. If anyone who wants to help me out needs more information because of the vague details please feel free to ask. There is alot of talk about how raid removed from 2.4 kernel was a bad idea, oh yeah my mandrake kernel is 2.6.11-6mdk if you need that, but I'm looking to get Mandriva 2006 on this box probably be a new version. To wrap up the post thank you in advance to anyone who can help. Thanks again -- Justin
