Epson 3590 scanner fails to work after Power OFF / ON
Mandriva 2008.0
I installed my Epson 3590 scanner yesterday via MCC and it worked immediately. One scan after another went without a hitch. To make sure that everything was indeed OK, I did a few restarts and each time the scanner continued to function as before. The scanner was plugged in and still ON during each restart.
Then I turned the computer AND the scanner off for a few hours and on rebooting discovered that the scanner was nolonger available.
Thinking that the firmware may need to be instaled at each power up I installed it via MC and was told that it had been installed.
XSANE says "No devices available" while Kooka says "Problem no scanner was found" which amounts to same thing.
The scanner appears in the MCC/Hardware listing. It also shows up in xsane when I type sane-find-scanner.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0122 [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:003:003
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
And scanimage -L gives
device `snapscan:libusb:003:004' is a EPSON EPSON Scanner flatbed scanner
Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on here?
Thanks in advance,
Tony Littlejohn
