Dual Boot: Raid0 and ATA.

I have a p4s800d-e motherboard in which I have installed XP on the RAID0 drive. I have installed mandrake 10 on the ATA. I can only have one set up in the BIOS as the primary (naturally) but Mandrake does not recognize the RAID Drive and vice versa. Which ever OS I want to boot in I have to change to the drive as the primary.

Can I use the XP Bootloader to boot the Secondary drive which has the Mandrake bootloader?

I am using a dual boot raid on my machine using the Man10 rc1 for the amd64.

I only have one hard drive a raid on a Gigabyte amd64 board. I figure mdk has done more work on the amd64 version since the
boards for these devicces almost all have raid chips.

It works well and the Man10 i586 did not have the listing for my raid chip when I tried to load the machine with standard i586.

You could try the amd64.iso and see if it would work on an i586 machine?

I am assuming off hand that the prefix tell me the instructions for the OS you are suggesting implies that they were written for an AMD processor. Also does the 64 mean 64 bit?

Anyhow, I appreciate you're suggestion but doubt it will work. And I would truly hate to waste time with something someone hasn't already tried.

For information purposes, my boards RAID function is controlled by the SiS180 Chipset.

If anyone have knowledge of this chipset working with a particular chipset, please let me know.

hey
firslty no, dont install the iso 4 a 64bit processor on a 32bit processor......

i have duel boot on a p4c800deluxe with xp installed on my raid0 sata and mdk10 installed on my pata
sound familiure?

well mdk picks up my sata drives , but cuz i am using raid0 and have a 40gb and 100gb partition over 2 x 80gb mandrake sees 1 40gb partion that is emptry (this is win c) and it sees a 'superblock' over 2 drives which its confused about

i dont knw how to use linux with raid0 anyway regaurding your problem
i at first had to go into my bios and select which hard disk 2 boot of as well, but now i use the lilo boot loader 2 boot both win xp and linux

dont use the windows boot loader use grub of lilo
as long as linux can see the hard drive that you installed windows on lilo or grub should be able to boot it
and mdk10 should also have set it up for you as it did to me, but then if niether OS can see either hard disk then you have a problem
your p4s800d-e would probably be similer to my motherboard and use the same chipsets that mine uses which mdk works with

but if win xp can at least see your linux disk try editing the boot loader 4 xp 2 boot the other hard disk
u can edit xp startup in system propities (right click my comp) > advanced > start up n recovery
from here u can add other OS's to boot or jsut edit the boot.ini file

hope u can get 1 of those working

My question is for SomeGuy1337 as he has almost the same setup as I do.
I have a p4c800e deluxe board as well with a RAID0 array (2x 80Gb). I have WinXP installed on this raid volume and I plan on installing a separate PATA drive for Mandrake 10. So SomeGuy1337, did you run into any issues at installation with detecting WinXP on the raid array? That's what I'm concerned about. I want to know if setting up the bootloader during installation is pretty straightforward so that I'm able to dual boot into Linux (on pata drive) and WinXP (on raid volume). Let me know how this went for you SomeGuy1337, thanks a lot.
