I did something wrong and now I have a problem loading drakconf. When I press the "Configure Your Computer" or just write a command in the terminal:
# drakconf
the configuration window doesn't load. The password menu window pops uot, I enter the root password and nothing happens. The error in the terminal window is:
Can't locate object method "signal_connect" via package "Gtk2::Window" at /usr/sbin/drakconf.real line 98.
Could anybody give an idea how to get drakconf back? Thank you
[don@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost don]# urpmi drakconf
To save typing, the command mcc is interchangable with drakconf as root, and unlike drakconf, you can use the command mcc as a regular user and it will pop open a box to input the root password and open the Mandriva Control Center.
[don@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost don]# urpmi drakconf
Thank you Lakota!
But when I do this I get the message that drakconf is already installed. I guess I should remove it and then try to install it again. But without a drakconf I don't know how to remove rpm packages
Just tried dumping drakconfig and reinstalling it and worked fine for me:
Code:
[don@localhost ~]$ urpme drakconf
bash: urpme: command not found
[don@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost don]# urpme drakconf
removing drakconf-10.3-5mdk.i586
[root@localhost don]# urpmi drakconf
Please insert the medium named "Mandriva 2006 December Club Edition CD1 " on device [/dev/hdc]
Press Enter when ready...
installing drakconf-10.3-5mdk.i586.rpm from /var/cache/urpmi/rpms

[root@localhost don]# exit

Try that, hope it fixes you up, I'm off to bed. Surely if it still is messed up someone else will be up that actually understands the error message you had.

Unfortunately it didn't help . I guess I did something wrong with such variables as GTK_CONFIG or something (maby yes, maby not), setting their paths incorectly. But I don't know what was their previous values so I cannot restore it.
But thank you very much for your help Lakota anyway.
It turned out that my drakconf didn't work because I added a path "/usr/local/lib" in the "/etc/ld.so.conf" file and executed
# ldconfig
When I deleted that path and did 'ldconfig' drakconf executes normaly. The strange thing is that without this added path I couldn't install "atk-1.10.3". It seems that I have to make a big choice: "to drakconf or to atk". Does anybody know if there is a way to have both working?
