I did not know that command and I will note that so I can remember it in the future as I said before I am still a novice when it comes to the CLI however I did set up the boot menu in grub to boot to run level 3 like you explained and I am still learning but you don't learn if you don't try or ask questions.

Is the best method if a session hangs and you get stuck. The "U" will make the kernel attempt to remount all mounted filesystems in read-only mode, which will keep the disk from arbitrarily writing data to disk.
Think *magic sub* to remember the letters to use.
