Delete Log Files

I was installing "MepisLite" on an old box yesterday and while waiting for the install there was a "tips" box that was constantly refreshing with new "tip". It said that Mepis could remove "log Files" in Linux that become quite large. How can that be done with other distros?
On edit I see that Mandriva has "Logrotate" installed. So that must be what "Mepis" was describing.

yeah, it's always logrotate... no idea why they're bothering to boast about it really.
