I'm new at Linux and I have problems trying to install my modem through the "DrakConnect" (I'm using Kde 3.1...this is at the Mandrake Management Center). I have a PowerBook G3 running under Mandrake 9.1...I don't know what else should I tell you ...I hope this could help you to understand the situation and you could guide me to solve this.
I'd detail another thing that happened to me...I don't know where is the modem because every "ttySX" (X between 0 to 7) (COM 1 to COM 8) I choose the KPPP says that he couldn't found the /dev/modem
This is because I have to find a package with my specified modem driver?? Is part of the same problem???

First, isn't there a newer Mandrake for PPC?

As for the problem...a modem is usually ttyS2, in my experience. It could also be ttyS4, as some PCI-based cards are. (Most are still S2, though).

If this doesn't work, then you probably have a MacModem (Macintosh equivalent of a WinModem). I actually don't know if Apple ever made such devices, but in a laptop they might have well done so.
