I just installed Mandriva 2007 Free in my Dell 2400 and it works great except I can't play audio cd's or any CD's. Its recognized my CD Player but when I put a CD in the CD player and the box pops up and asks me what I want to do and I highlight the play icon then KSCD popsup but does nothing. My soundcard has been detected and is working. I think its a mounting problem but I'm lost as how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. The CD Rom is not listed in the Devices on the Desktop like it was in 2006.
YOu may need to switch cd playback to digital. Some systems don't include the cdaudio cable that connects the drive directly to the sound card. Digital playback will solve this.
Thankyou Gruemaster for your reply, but it still doesn't work?
Hello
Thankyou Gruemaster for your reply. The KsCD Player is already set to digital playback. Here's the Error I'm getting when I open KsCD:CD-ROM read or access error (or no audio disc in drive). Please make sure you have access permissions to:/dev/cdrom
Also if I click directly on the CD Drive Icon I get this error: Could not mount device. The reported error was:
/dev/hdc: Input/output error mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only /dev/hdc: Input/output error mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock
How do I fix these problems? Anybodys help would be very much appreciated.
Have the same trouble. The KCD can read the information from audio cd (song names, authors, etc) but cannot play the cd.
Did you find the way to fix it?
