Hello,

My father has just purchased a Brother DCP-110C Printer/Scanner. (usb-printer)
Problem is : Windows Only. I'm trying to install it on Mandrake 10.0. using CUPS.

Now, I've searched via google and been browsing through various sites concerning linux printing. Nowhere have I found a driver for this printer. The model isn't listed.

The closest thing Mandrake 10.0 can find is the DCP-1200. But selecting that doesn't resolve the problem. It wont print.

I have found a MacOS .dmg-file for CUPS. Can I convert this to a .ppd-file somehow ?

Could someone point me to a sollution ? (perhaps a .ppd-file ?)

Para ello he instalado:
Please Install:

y luego:

http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agree...g=English_cups

Después he ido al localhost:
Then go to:

http://127.0.0.1:631
y /and

Manage printers>add printer>device: brother dcp-110c>model/driver: brother>Brother DCP-110c CUPS v1.1 (en)

y ya esta

I used this information to get both the printer and the scanner to operate on my Brother DCP-110C

In my previous reply I forgot to mention a small point in the scanner installation
In step 3 it says to issue the following command
# echo 'none /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs auto,devmode=0666 0 0' >>/etc/fstab
This will work on a 2.4 kernel but on a 2.6 kernel the usbdevfs has been changed to usbfs
so just replace it with this command
# echo 'none /proc/bus/usb usbfs auto,devmode=0666 0 0' >>/etc/fstab
and all should go well.
If you get an error when you issue the "mount /proc/bus/usb" then it will probably be due to this change
simply edit the last line of "/etc/fstab" and change the usbdevfs to usbfs

Thank you both, you have been a great help. I got the printer working. I gave up on it, but after installing the latest Mandrake I gave it another try and it works.

I followed the instructions on http://solutions.brother.com/linux/s..._install.html.
After messing about a bit, I installed the two rpms using the "--force" option, otherwise it wouldn't work.
