Hello All,
I'm in the process of installing Mandrake 10.0 and have run into a significant problem. After te boot loader runs and I choose "linux", I see nothing. I hear the welcome sound, but my screen is just black! I tried to reinstall, and am currently at the display config page, but when I test I get the same results. Here are my specs:

Sony SDM-M51d LCD monitor (not found in the list)
Nvidia GEForce Ti 4600 Video Card
1024 Megs PC 2700 DDR
120 Gig WD 7200 RPM Hard Drive
Asus P4S8X Mobo

Choose 'linux failsafe' from the menu. I think this will get you to a command line. Then run 'drakx' to configure the display. Try adjusting the refresh rate to a more conservative one.

I am a newbie also, but I have this problem with Mandrake 9.2, this is how I solved:
** Press Cntrl-Alt-F1 to go to the first console.
** Enter using root credentials.
** Type XFdrake, this will run the screen and resolution selector.
** Play with diferent options and test it before leave.


Reboot the system.

Thanks for the attempt, but it still refuses to work. I tried all of the generic and custom options in the list, and was unable to find my brand of monitor in the vendor list (sony sdm-m51d).

Can you think of anything else?
