What's the difference between MDK 10 and 10.1 Official?

About a year (or at least a half)

All programs are newer versions with (hopefully) less bugs and better functions.
The biggest difference I've noticed is the switch from devfs to udev.

If you're meaning difference between 10.1 Community and Official, Community is the pre-release (beta if you will).
Once Official is released you really should not use Community since all bug and security fixes are for Official only.

Thanks. I was wondering what the diff between 10 and 10.1 was. I have a downloaded 10.1 Official I can't get get sound with and can get a factory version of 10, thought it might be better quality. It's true with 9.2. I have a downloaded version and a factory "Discovery" version, there is a difference.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here's a side by side comparison of the two.

It's been awhile since I've been on Mandrake, but I don't recall there ever being a difference in quality between the Community Editions and the Discovery versions.

The downloadable Official and factoy versions are identical. The only difference is that "factory" includes
some additional commercial products.

If you can't get sound with a downloaded 10.1 Official I doubt it'll work with a purchased 10.0 though YMMV.
Search this forum for "sound" and see if anyhing applies to your problem.
