Gsmartcontrol bug in Mageia3

Hello,
After installing Mageia3, gsmartcontrol crashes.
It starts, then opens up a window and then crashes.
I run this from a command line it does this:
Code:
<warn> [app] SmartctlParser::parse_section_info_property(): Unknown property "Vendor"
<warn> [app] SmartctlParser::parse_section_info_property(): Unknown property "Product"
<warn> [app] SmartctlParser::parse_section_info_property(): Unknown property "Revision"
<warn> [app] SmartctlParser::parse_section_info_property(): Unknown property "Logical block size"
<warn> [app] SmartctlParser::parse_section_info_property(): Unknown property "Device type"
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
If I try and run gsmartcontrol-root it gives a bit more info:
Code:
gsmartcontrol-root

(gksu:9215): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Hi, no gsmartcontrol here but (kde4)....

I have had dbus errors for months, but was fixed in updates (I didn't do anything to try and fix it, 'cause I don't know why I need it, yet).

I'm on cauldron, just out of rc3, and now mga4 (since a day or two).

The update should be on the way if it's not there already waiting.

Cheers, Glenn

Hello Glenn,
I have had some system updates, but it still does not work.
The is a text based version which works.

Hi, this might seem silly, but have you tried just prefixing the command "sudo" ?

Hi Glenn,
I haven't got the sudoers file confugured:
Code:
 sudo gsmartcontrol
[sudo] password for ewok:
ewok is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
[ewok@endor ~]$
I have tried running it as root.
I have even tried running the version in /usr/sbin/gsmartcontrol

Iḱm having heaps of trouble with su and sudo at the moment.

Supposedly gksu and gksudo are included now, but my system has been upside down since.

ie, I need sudo as root. weird!

and su or sudo as a user shows, for now at least, no permission to change group.

What do you use gsmartcontrol for?

It gives you the drive info/status /temperature and if it has failed before the past.
the text based version is called smartctl.
The drives can also be tested.

OK.

I don't know of any other way to monitor/test harddisks, 'cept temp with hddtemp.

Just a thought, have you seen in the "BackPorts" (older versions that still work/ported to the latest release) repo to see if smartcontrol is in there?

I just installed gsmartcontrol > dragged in smartmontools
Code:
urpmi gsmartcontrol (25-07 18:33)
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be installed:
  Package Version Release Arch
(medium "Local_Mageia3-Core")
  smartmontools 6.1 1.mga3 x86_64
(medium "Core Release2")
  gsmartcontrol 0.8.7 3.mga3 x86_64
But it works fine.

Have you tried to run the app from a terminal like konsole or xterm?

Because, the output will have any errors.

Just a thought.

Regards Glenn

ps, you can exit the program, in most instances, with...
Code:
ctrl+c
